Public Enemy: Nothing Is Quick In The Desert

Public Enemy: Nothing Is Quick In The Desert

On Public Enemy’s Bandcamp page, Chuck D just announced:

After 30 years, 106 tours across 105 countries and countless records, THANK YOU! This one is on Public Enemy. Get it while it’s free.

„Nothing Is Quick In The Desert“ will be available until July 4. I am listening to it right now – what I’ve heard so far is great!

Rolling Stone reports:

The 13-track album features guest appearances from Ice-T, PMD of EPMD, Easy Mo Bee, Sammy Vegas and Solé. Longtime collaborator David „CDOC“ Snyder produced the record, with help from Stetsasonic’s Daddy-O, DJ Pain 1, Mike Redman, Dejuan Boyd, JP Hesser and Public Enemy’s Professor Griff and DJ Lord.

The Funky Farmer: George Clinton Home Story (1986)

with 24 comments

This is the English translation of a George Clinton home story which I did in 1986 when I was working as a music journalist (original German version):

One morning at 5 a.m. on the funky farm: sputter – sputter – zang – boom – crash. Strange sounds are emanating from the hall. A few minutes later George Clinton stands in the living room: „Damn, not even 4000 points! When I’m that bad, I know that it’s time to quit. Good night!“ A last disappointed look at the Galaxian video game, and Clinton disappears into the bedroom. In the neighborhood the first cocks are crowing.

N.A.S.A.’s „Spirit of Apollo“ Is a Contender for Best Hip Hop Album of the Year

with 8 comments

Mein jüngster Last.FM-Blog-Beitrag:

I’ve been lucky enough to be able to listen to an advance copy of N.A.S.A.’s album Spirit Of Apollo which will be released in the U.S. on February 17, 2009 (according to Amazon.com), and in Germany on February 13, 2009 (according to Amazon.de).

According to its label Anti, >> N.A.S.A is an ongoing creative collaboration between two lifelong music aficionados, Squeak E. Clean and DJ Zegon, and their friends, friends of friends and musical heroes. While N.A.S.A. stands for North America/South America and contains a number of superstar artists from both coasts of the US, it is about as far from a tension-building geographical showdown as a record can get.

George Clinton w/Drugs and 420 Funk Mob
