Diesen Bericht schrieb ich für den Deutschen Journalisten-Verband (DJV), für den ich das Festival besuchte:

Das International Journalism Festival wird immer größer: Seine 11. Ausgabe, die vom 5. bis 9. April 2017 im italienischen Perugia (Umbrien) lief, bot über 250 Veranstaltungen mit mehr als 600 Referenten aus 44 Ländern und 2000 akkreditierten Journalisten, unterstützt von über 200 freiwilligen Helfern. Da etwa ein Drittel der Diskussionen simultan übersetzt wurde oder komplett auf Englisch stattfand, zog das Event auch Hunderte Gäste aus aller Welt an. Sie pendelten zwischen 15 Sälen im so prächtigen wie quirligen historischen Stadtzentrum von Perugia.

Die Themen der Konferenz, die keinen Eintritt kostet, reflektierten die heißen Eisen, die die internationale Medienszene bewegen: „Fake-News“ und, damit verbunden, der Umgang der Medien mit US-Präsident Donald Trump, Social Media, Datenjournalismus, Austausch mit dem Publikum („engagement“) und die Lage der Medien in der Türkei. Sämtliche Programmpunkte wurden live gestreamt und sind auch noch nachträglich unter media.journalismfestival.com abrufbar.

Diesen Bericht schrieb ich für den Deutschen Journalisten-Verband (DJV), für den ich das Festival besuchte:

Mit 259 Veranstaltungen in zehn Sälen, 549 Referenten aus 34 Ländern, rund 200 freiwilligen Helfern und zigtausenden Besuchern dürfte das 10. International Journalism Festival, das Anfang April in der prächtigen Altstadt von Perugia/Umbrien stattfand, nicht nur das Top-Medien-Event Italiens, sondern auch eines der größten Europas sein. Was zudem bemerkenswert ist: Sämtliche Programmpunkte des Festivals sind kostenlos.

Die Konferenz ist auch für ausländische Besucher attraktiv, da zahlreiche Diskussionen (immerhin rund ein Drittel der 259 Events) simultan übersetzt werden oder komplett auf Englisch stattfinden. Der Themenmix reicht von Nutzwertigem für Einsteiger über Präsentationen neuer Medienprojekte bis hin zu politischen Diskussionen. In Zeiten von Daesh/IS und u. a. dadurch verursachten Krisen mit weltweiten Auswirkungen fanden Podien über Themen wie Flüchtlingsbewegungen und Bürgerkriegsgebiete besonders große Aufmerksamkeit.

Die elfte Ausgabe des Festivals läuft von Mittwoch, 5. April, bis Sonntag, 9. April 2017. Der Twitter-Hashtag lautet dann #IJF17.
