R.I.P., Peter O’Toole! („My Favorite Year“ and Letterman in London Clips)
I believe my favorite Peter O’Toole movie is the 1982 comedy „My Favorite Year“. He plays washed-up, booze-loving swashbuckler Allan Swann who is being booked as special guest for a live variety TV show in 1954:
Around 1’56“ in this trailer, he performs the best line of the movie – a true classic: „I’m not an actor – I’m a movie star!“
Another highlight of the movie:
I’ll never forget a hilarious performance with David Letterman when the Late Show visited London in 1995. O’Toole’s entrance on a thirsty camel named Topsy is one of the best ever.
In the second clip, the raconteur tells a wonderful story about his „frolicking“ days with Richard Harris which involves a pork chop and a dead pet.
