Remembering Willy DeVille

I’m currently revisiting some of my favorite Willy DeVille songs – which remind me of a TV shoot I did with him in New Orleans in 1992, on the event of the German release of his album “Backstreets of Desire” (for the magazine “Das! Das Abendstudio” on the Northern German TV channel NDR). He had moved to the French Quarter around 1990 and recorded the album in the Big Easy (just like 1990’s “Victory Mixture”).

On the night before the shoot, I visited him and his wife Lisa at their home in the Quarter. Instead of doing the usual interview about the album, he suggested that we shoot him doing a tour of his favorite spots in New Orleans.

Film Festival „Bollywood and beyond“: The Tweets

In July, I visited the sixth Indian film festival „Bollywood and beyond“ in Stuttgart and sent short reviews to Twitter. The tweets apparently got lost during one of the many Twitter crashes – since they originated at identi.ca, I was able to save them (I included some trailers):

I enjoyed last year’s half-day visit to London for the Campaign for Real Ale‘s Great British Beer Festival at Earls Court Exhibition Center so much, that I stayed for two days this year.

Again, I used Twitter to keep an online diary – here are my tweets in chronological order (plus a list of the beers I sampled).

Great British Beer Festival: The Beers

Here is a list of the beer I sampled during my two days at the Campaign for Real Ale’s Great British Beer Festival at Earls Court Exhibition Centre in London. My personal favourites are marked with an asterisk.

Als bekennender TV-Junkie habe ich einen Festplattenrecorder mit 320-GB-Festplatte, die angesichts meiner Aufnahmefrequenz selbst bei Mitschnitten in einer der schlechtesten Qualitätsstufen regelmäßig „überläuft“.

In den letzten Wochen habe ich unzählige Sendungen gelöscht, die ich seit der Anschaffung des Recorders vor gut einem Jahr aufgenommen habe. Ein paar davon sah ich mir vor der Löschung noch mal kurz an, ganz wenige überlebten.

Eine der Letzteren ist die besonders sehenswerte Episode von „Thadeusz“, die zuerst am 29. Januar 2008 im RBB ausgestrahlt wurde. Der immer brillante Jörg Thadeusz parlierte gewohnt unterhaltsam und intelligent mit der stets wunderbaren österreichischen Schauspielerin Sophie Rois.
